Arc Mercer is Mercer County's premier agency in providing community based services for people with special needs and developmental disabilities.  Arc Mercer is seeking an experienced Human Resources Senior Generalist.

The Human Resources Senior Generalist acts as a trusted adviser to management and employees providing guidance and direction on people and organizational needs. This incumbent ensures implementation and maintenance of a great place to work initiative.

Reporting to the VP of Administration and working directly with the HR Business Partner, the Human Resources Senior Generalist maintains an effective level of business literacy about the organization's plans, its culture and its competition.


  • Provide day to day supervision and management of the HR team (staff of 5+) to ensure all targets are met.
  • Organize, implement and maintain effective processes in Human Resources; specifically: Employee Relations, Recruitment, On-Boarding, Training, Compliance, Performance Management, Organizational Development / Change Management, Special Projects, Audits, Terminations, Benefits Administration and Human Resources Administration.
  • Leverage organizational policies and procedures and / or employment/labor laws to resolve employee relations concerns.
  • Ensure consistency, efficiency, and Human Resources best practices are implemented into Human Resources processes.
  • Provide Human Resources support to all departments by addressing questions and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Visit all Program facilities and meet with managers and staff on a monthly basis.
  • Attend departmental / group home monthly meetings.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of agency policies and procedures and regulatory compliance to ensure consistency and practice throughout the agency.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
  • Partner with Human Resources Business Partner and legal as needed/required.
  • Work with the Executive Management Team on all HR initiatives and projects.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working as a Senior Human Resources Generalist / Human Resources Supervisor / Manager
  • Minimum of 5 years experience supervising and managing staff.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in project management
  • Union workforce experience highly preferred  
  • High School Diploma / GED required / College Degree preferred
  • Valid Drivers' License required
  • Meet and maintain agency, state, and federal hiring standards.
  • Flexible work schedule including availability to work nights and weekends
  • Availability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week
